Creating Your First Job
A job is the central unit in Estimatics. Every inspection you run — photos, video, notes, scope, and final report — lives inside a single job tied to a specific property address. Creating a job takes under two minutes.
What you need before you start
- A property address (street, city, state, ZIP)
- The scheduled inspection date (optional at creation — you can add it later)
- The name of the inspector assigned to the job (optional — can be assigned later)
You don't need photos, documents, or any other materials to create the job. The job is just the container — you fill it during and after the inspection.
Creating a job from the web dashboard
Step 1 — Open the Jobs dashboard
From the left sidebar, click Jobs. You'll see your job list — empty if this is your first one.
Step 2 — Click + New Job
Click the + New Job button in the top-right corner of the Jobs dashboard. A creation form opens.
Step 3 — Enter the property address
Type the property address in the address field. Estimatics uses the address to:
- Set the GPS anchor for your inspection
- Pre-load satellite imagery for the Geometry module
- Generate the job's display ID (shown to your team and clients)
Use the full street address including ZIP code for best results.
Step 4 — Set the job details
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Property address | Yes | Full address including ZIP |
| Job type | No | Storm, Water, Fire, Other |
| Scheduled date | No | Can be set or changed later |
| Assigned to | No | Assign to yourself or a team member |
| Notes | No | Internal notes visible to your team |
Step 5 — Click Create Job
Click Create Job. Your job is created instantly with a status of Scheduled and a unique display ID (e.g., Job #6778).
You'll land directly on the Job Workspace — the main view for this inspection.
Creating a job from the iOS app
You can also create jobs directly from the field before you start capturing.
- Open the Estimatics iOS app and sign in
- Tap the + button on the Jobs screen
- Enter the property address
- Tap Create Job
The job syncs immediately to the web dashboard — your team sees it in real time.
Understanding job statuses
Every job moves through a lifecycle. The status is visible to your entire team.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Scheduled | Job created, inspection not yet started |
| In Progress | Capture is underway or media is being processed |
| In Review | Inspection complete, pending internal review |
| Submitted | Report delivered to client or carrier |
| Closed | Job complete and archived |
You can update the status manually at any time from the job header on the web dashboard.
Assigning a job to an inspector
If you're a manager or admin, you can assign the job to any active member of your organization:
- Open the job
- Click the Assigned to field in the job header
- Select a team member from the dropdown
- The assignee receives a notification and the job appears in their queue
An inspector can also self-assign by opening an unassigned job from their dashboard.
Tip: Assign the job before the inspection so the inspector sees it in their iOS app when they arrive at the property.
What happens after the job is created
Once the job exists, your inspector can open it in the iOS app and begin capturing. Photos and videos sync to the web dashboard in real time — you can review media as it comes in without waiting for the inspection to finish.
The five module tabs appear immediately on the job workspace:
- Capture — your media library, organized by room and area
- Geometry — auto-generated roof sketch (Instant Geometry™)
- Analyze — AI damage findings (SCOPE and CERTIFY plans)
- Estimate — AI-generated scope and Quick Estimate PDF
- Reports — final damage report with branding
Frequently asked questions
Can I create a job without a full address? You need at minimum a street address and city. ZIP code is strongly recommended for accurate satellite imagery in the Geometry module.
Can I duplicate a job? Not currently — each job is tied to a unique property address and inspection event. If you need to re-inspect the same property, create a new job.
Is there a limit to how many jobs I can create? No. All plans include unlimited job creation.
Can I delete a job? Yes, from the job settings menu. Deleted jobs and their media are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Admin role required.
Can a job have multiple properties? No. One job = one property address. For multi-building commercial properties, create a separate job per building or use the Notes field to reference related jobs.
