Installing the Estimatics iOS App

The Estimatics iOS app is how you capture in the field — photos, video, Dual Video, and LiDAR 3D scans. Here's how to download it and get it set up before your first inspection.

Installing the Estimatics iOS App

The Estimatics iOS app is your tool in the field. You use it to capture photos, record video, run Dual Video sessions with multiple cameras, and — on supported devices — perform LiDAR 3D scans of the property. Everything syncs to the web dashboard in real time.

Requirements

RequirementMinimum
DeviceiPhone or iPad
iOS versioniOS 17.0 or later
Storage500MB free (recommended 2GB+ for large inspections)
InternetRequired for sync — offline capture is supported (see below)
LiDAR scanningiPhone 12 Pro and later, iPad Pro 2020 and later
Dual Video (MultiCam)iPhone XS and later

Step 1 — Download from the App Store

Search "Estimatics" in the App Store, or tap the link below to go directly to the listing.

Download Estimatics on the App Store

The app is free to download. Your subscription is managed through your Estimatics account, not through Apple.

Step 2 — Sign in

Open the app and sign in with the same email and password you use on the web dashboard. Your account, jobs, and team are all linked — the app and the web are the same platform.

If you don't have an account yet, sign up at app.aiestimatics.com from your computer first, then sign in on iOS.

Step 3 — Grant permissions

The app will request the following permissions on first launch. All of them are required for the app to function correctly in the field.

Camera

Required. Used for photo capture, video recording, and Dual Video sessions.

When prompted: tap Allow.

If you accidentally tapped "Don't Allow," go to iOS Settings → Estimatics → Camera and toggle it on.

Microphone

Required for video. Used when recording walkthrough video and Dual Video sessions with audio.

When prompted: tap Allow.

Location

Required. Your GPS coordinates are embedded in every photo and video you capture — this is how Estimatics geotags your evidence to the property address and generates the Geometry module's satellite imagery.

When prompted: tap Allow While Using App (not "Once" — you need it active throughout your inspection session).

Set location to Precise (not Approximate) for accurate geotagging. Go to iOS Settings → Estimatics → Location → Precise Location and toggle it on if needed.

Local Network (optional)

Used for syncing to nearby devices on the same WiFi. Tap Allow if prompted — this improves sync speed when you're on the same network as your office.

Notifications (optional)

Tap Allow to receive push notifications for job assignments and team activity. You can configure which notifications you receive in the app settings.

Step 4 — Verify sync is working

Once you're signed in and permissions are granted:

  1. Open any job from the Jobs tab
  2. Tap Capture
  3. Take a test photo
  4. Watch the sync indicator — a small upload icon appears next to the photo as it uploads

Open the web dashboard on your computer — the photo should appear in the Capture tab of the same job within a few seconds on a good connection.

If the photo doesn't appear, check your internet connection and see the troubleshooting guide for media sync.

Offline capture

You can capture photos and video without an internet connection. The app queues all media locally and syncs automatically when you reconnect.

What works offline:

  • Photo capture
  • Video recording
  • Dual Video recording
  • Viewing already-synced media

What requires a connection:

  • Syncing new media to the web dashboard
  • Opening jobs not yet loaded on the device
  • Accessing the web dashboard (separate from the app)

Field tip: Before arriving at a remote property, open the job in the iOS app while you still have signal. This pre-loads the job data and any previously synced media so you can work offline smoothly.

LiDAR 3D scanning

If you have an iPhone 12 Pro or later (or iPad Pro 2020 or later), you can perform a LiDAR scan of a room or space directly from the Capture module. The scan creates a 3D model that feeds into the Geometry module for interior measurements.

LiDAR scanning is available on SCOPE and CERTIFY plans.

Dual Video / MultiCam recording

Dual Video lets you record from two cameras simultaneously — for example, the rear wide camera and the rear telephoto — to capture both context and detail in a single recording session.

Available on all plans on supported devices (iPhone XS and later).

Updating the app

Enable automatic updates in the App Store, or check for updates manually at App Store → your profile icon → Available Updates. We release updates regularly with new features and improvements.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an Android version? Not currently. Estimatics iOS is built around native iOS features including LiDAR (via Apple's RoomPlan API), ProRAW camera access, and AVCaptureMultiCamSession for Dual Video — none of which are available on Android. An Android version is on the long-term roadmap.

Can I use the app on an iPad? Yes. The app runs on iPad with iOS 17+. iPad Pro models with LiDAR support full 3D scanning.

The app is asking for camera access but I already granted it — what's happening? Reinstalling the app resets permissions. Go to iOS Settings → Estimatics → Camera and toggle it back on.

Can I use the iOS app without a subscription? You can download the app and sign in, but capturing and syncing media requires an active Estimatics subscription. Start a free trial at app.aiestimatics.com.

How much data does the app use? It depends on the volume of photos and video you capture. A typical inspection with 50 photos and one video walkthrough uses approximately 200–400MB of data upload. We recommend using WiFi when available.

My photos aren't syncing — what should I check? See the full media sync troubleshooting guide for step-by-step diagnostics.
